Services and Fees
I make myself available to you throughout your later pregnancy, labor and birth, and early postpartum period. I am proud to help you in your home, hospital, or birthing center, with your obstetrician, physician, or midwife. I live in Tacoma, WA, although I attend births all over the South Sound, from Olympia to Seattle.
Complimentary Interview: In order to see if we are a good match, I like to schedule a meet and greet. During this interview, we will ask questions of each other to determine whether or not my doula services are in line with what you'd like to receive from a doula.
Prenatal: After our initial interview, I offer two prenatal meetings. These are your time to review your birth hopes and expectations (birth plan,) advice and education, and possibly practicing labor management techniques. If you'd like, these meetings can include me attending a prenatal appointment, hospital or birth center tour, or childbirth education class with you.
Additionally, I make myself available to you 24/7, via email, phone, or texting.
Labor and Birth: Once you are in labor, I ask that you call me as soon as you'd like me there (please give me as much notice as possible, usually 2 hours.) During labor and birth I can also take photographs or video, and if you would like, I will take notes to create a birth record for you.
Should something happen and you are in need of a cesarean birth, with the permission of the anesthesiologist I can accompany and support you through that as well. DONA training includes a session on supporting a family through a surgical birth.
I schedule at the most 1-2 doula clients per month--no less than 10 days between due dates. That way I can nearly guarantee that I will be at your birth. However, illness and family emergencies do occur, and if that should happen I will have a back up doula in place. You are welcome to meet that doula ahead of time, either over the phone or in person, if you wish.
Postpartum: Immediately following the birth I will stay with you for at least an hour, ensuring breastfeeding is established (if you plan to breastfeed,) and help make sure that you are easing into your new family.
I will also provide one to two postpartum visits to help with breastfeeding difficulties, to talk about any aspect of the birth that you wish, and to help in any other way I can.
Fees
My fee is a flat rate of $600. This includes two prenatal appointments, labor and birth, and two postpartum appointments. Every situation is different; should you need something more or less, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you.
A $300 (1/2) non-refundable down payment is due upon signing of the contract, and the remaining payment is due upon my arrival to your birth.
